Over the past several months, I’ve had the pleasure of contributing to several tracks in an upcoming release by Deprogrammed Studios. Along with the primary composer Otto Cate, I collaborated on both this track as well as an instrumental track Bidwell’s Ghost.
This song in particular is called Forecast and was an interesting collaborative effort. The whole tune began with the opening guitar line that was in an unfinished sketch by Otto titled Forecast. For whatever reason, I started riffing on that first line and created an ambience that seemed to invite some vocal lines. So, I began to write the lyrics and melodic line along with the groove and coda. After finishing my part and recording the vocal line, I sent it off to Otto who began his producing magic. There’s a lot of little subtle touches in the opening bits that really helped make it work. Then, the final explosive section is mostly all him. Very much bringing the style he maintains for the rest of the album, it swirls into a chaotic storm of audio until its conclusion.
